Police officers are killing people at an alarming rate. In 2022, there were only 15 days on which the police did not fatally shoot someone.
Not only are these extrajudicial executions frequent, but they are pervasive—affecting the entire U.S.
But some demographics are more affected than others...
As you've seen, although about twice as many white people are killed by police than white people annually on average,
the rate at which black people are killed by police relative to the population is over 2.55x higher than for white people.
But seeing is one thing, and experiencing is another. So, we've created a game to help you understand the difference.
In the following game, the quantity of obstacles is proportional to the number of people killed by police annually
and how closely they spawn near the player is proportional to the rate at which they are killed by police relative to
the population.
Once you've experienced both modes and gotten a feel for the difference, please consider sharing this webpage with others to spread awareness,
or donating to organizations like Race Forward, which funds crucial research, advocacy, and action towards racial justice.
